Mountain Side Hobbies AeroBee 350

My AeroBee

The first kit I ordered from MSH. You can take a look at their information and photos of the kit here. This is a great inexpensive kit for the intermediate modeler. Making the joints between tubes smooth and straight takes a bit of work but is not difficult. The kit does not feature through the wall fins but because of it's light weight it dosen't need that large of an engine anways.

I built this model and the Initiator at the same time, but did the final finishing on this one first. For the finish I made my first attempt at coating a rocket with "Monokote". I had started using monokote for fins back before I left the hobby for a few years. For more information about my experiences with Monokote and similar products follow the monokote link above.

CURRENT STATUS:
The rocket is now retired after only one flight. I made the mistake of trusting a friend to pack the chute for me without knowing his idea of packing a chute is "Shove it in". Well, the flight went very well untill ejection, when the chute jammed in the front of the body tube. I got a great core sample, but somehow the engine tube was smashed even though the body tube had almost no damage. Unless I can find a way to fix this the rocket will stay retired indefinately.
