SRW MIRV Gryphon

My MIRV

This was one of the kits that caught by eye even before I became a BAR. It just looks so cool to me!

Construction

Man, I really wish I had a camera handy when I opened this kit. Unfortunatly it came on a day I had nothing to do and I started construction before I thought to get a photo of all the pieces. 12 pieces of body tube! 4 nosecones! 12 fins! This thing has a lot of pieces!

With all those pieces and the small scale this is not a model for the faint of heart, or inexperienced. I'm probably pushing my limits by building it. I've got the booster section completed and it came out nice and square and true I think. However, I've yet to work up the guts to shape and glue the MIRV fins. I'll wait untill I have the tape they recomend to hold them in place while they dry.

One thing I thought was really neat about this kit is the location of the launch lug, inside the four body tubes. I've always liked to hide my lugs and this kit follows that thinking!

CURRENT STATUS:
Booster is completed, MIRV's are awaiting fin attachment. I haven't decided how I'm going to finish this kit yet. The suggested colors aren't bad but I've got an aversion to white rockets. (I've lost too many of them against white skies).
