Embiggining Brown Ale

Based on Charlie P's excelent "Elbro Nerkte Brown Ale" this was the first batch of Homebrew I ever made. In fact, I ment to follow the recipe rather closely but due to a measuring error ended up with something different.

The name comes from a Simpsons episode, the episode originally aired on the same night as the original tasting of this beer. And due to my mistake in measuring the hops we had a beer that to me deffinatly seemed "Embiggining".

If you like lots of hops then this is the beer for you. If on the other hand you don't like "Bitter Beer" stay away! I ended up with a beer made like a Brown Ale but Hopped like a Pale Ale. Most of the people who tried this beer hated their first sip, could stand their second, and by the end of the glass were begging for another. Unfortunatly because of this almost the entire batch was consumed in one night before my first sking experience, and only the 7 of us really got to try this brew.

Recipe

I can't give you the exact recipe since it was only made due to an unrecorded error. I can however make a few educated guesses as to how to duplicate it.

Double all of the boiling hops. I know I at least did that. In fact you may even want to triple them. Then for the finishing hops things get tricky. I was about halfway through adding the hops when I realised that I had misread the weight of my hops packet. It said 2oz. not 1/2oz. like I though it said. But, I was already part way through adding the hops when I noticed this so I honestly have no idea exactly how much I over did it. All I can say is the final beer had a deffinate Hop bite :)

Label

I did start of a label for this beer. I had it all planned out in my head, I just never got around to finishing it because I coulden't get the elements I needed. I wanted Jebidah Springfield's face in an oval surrounded by the name written in a "Simpsonesque" font. If you ever try to duplicate this beer I hope you can keep it's Simpsons inspiration in mind.
