Estes Mini Mars Lander

My lander

This is the oldest model in my fleet. I built this only a few months before temporarially abandoning the hobby for a number of years. Looking at it now I can tell my older construction techniques would probably never withstand the new composite motors I'm now using!

Early flights of this model were unrecorded but I do remember them as being uneventfull. The charing on the streamer does show the major design flaw of not leaving enough room for ejection charge protection.

CURRENT STATUS:
The lander is currently in the repair bay due to a non-flight related accident. One of it's legs. (The one on the right in the photo) was broken when it fell of a table and got stepped on by a dog. The repair should be simple but I can't find my tweasers to work with the tiny piece that fell off.

December 961/2A3-2TThis was the first flight for this model since I became a BAR. About how I remember this rocket performing. Straight flight to about 2-3 hundred feet, and landed within 5 feet of the pad.
